Wendy Oldfield and Paul Hanmer @ The Crypt, Wednesday 2 December 2016
In conjunction with Concerts SA, Jazz pianist/composer Paul Hanmer and vocalist Wendy Oldfield have teamed up once again for one performance at The Crypt, Cape Town.
Hot on the heels of their recent Songlines Tour, this unique collaboration beautifully fuses jazz, folk, pop and African rhythms to produce a truly memorable sound. Both are well known South African musicians, composers, songwriters and performers: Wendy an indie rock world songwriter and singer and Paul a legendary jazz pianist and composer. Together they bridge a path between genres with their own original style and sound, exposing audiences to a new space of live music appreciation.
These consummate performers with years of experience bring heartwarming memories to the South African music landscape that stand as a celebration of the past, present, and future. Paul’s skill on the keys and Wendy’s arrestingly edgy voice fuse together seamlessly. Listening to them and watching them perform together, revive a sense of nostalgia for what was, but also a sense of moving forward, learning, adapting, and changing. There’s something for old fans and new: surprising, moving, and fresh.
