There’s no stopping the Durbanite who’s an award-winning actor and singer…
Rory Booth is your average urban boy except for the fact that he is a rising star. A rising star in the world of entertainment.
The 25-year-old multi-talented youngster who hails from Treasure Beach, south of Durban has been steadily making a name for himself over the years as an actor and singer. Oliver Meth caught up with him to find out more.
One can not easily omit from a long list of accolades that Rory proudly has. With extensive stage experience including Oliver, Motown Fever, Bob & Rob, Hamlet and Spice and Stuff, his performance in the hit production Carnival Time, which earned him the much coveted Mercury Personality of the Year Award and now we get to appreciate another feature of the tremendously gifted lad after he released his debut solo track, earlier this year.
Rory’s self-penned debut single, Make You Happy, is notching up airplay across the countries radio airwaves. He says the track came about quite by accident while he was fooling around on his manager’s piano.
Make You Happy has become very popular on radio and Rory is in the final stages of the music video shoot and soon fans can expect a release on all major music channels by the end of October.
“I am currently recording my next radio single called ‘Dance With Me’…fans can expect to make their way to the dancefloor”, Rory said excitedly.
If he isn’t in studio recording or at rehersals for his next gig – he is the voice behind the new Lotus FM’s current radio drama ‘Sunshine Mall’ and also plays two lead characters in the daily soapie ‘The Deal’.
This isn’t the first time the budding singer-songwriter-actor has appeared on the small screen – he has already appeared in a new movie screened on SABC3 last week – White Gold.
I’m quite certain that Rory’s musical talents will travel the length and breadth of this diverse country and beyond, turning innocent bystanders into ardent fans; taking over the airwaves to spread his contagion and unleash a string of irresistible singles to capture the hearts and minds of an unsuspecting populace.
