After four successful shows, this world-class 17-piece big band, directed by Adam Howard, returns to The Lyric Theatre providing a charming musical journey that celebrates MOVIES in true, classic big band tradition.
Johannesburg Big Band At The Movies will be a concert full of famous movie themes with songs that will instantly take audiences back into the movie theatre. Playing music from golden oldies such as Casablanca and The Sound Of Music to block busters like Rocky, Superman and Star Wars – there is something for everyone.
Joining the big band on vocals will be the uber-talented multi-award winning KB Motsilanyane and instantly recognisable Brandon October who will take audiences down memory lane singing unforgettable movie hits like Beauty and the Beast, Unchained Melody, Son of a Preacher Man, Fame and many more.
Johannesburg Big Band At The Movies will be a night out on the town to remember, transporting the audience through a roller-coaster ride of their favourite movie theme tunes and songs. The show will highlight the inimitable flair of the Johannesburg Big Band and the vocalists, as they provide an unforgettably nostalgic evening for those wanting to be transported back to all those memorable movies across the years.
“Our Johannesburg Big Band concerts have been such a success over the last 2 years at The Lyric Theatre, so we were thrilled to be asked to stage another one, this time celebrating one of my favourite past-times – and many others I’m sure – the MOVIES!” says Collett Dawson; Executive Producer from The CoLab Network.
