Indian classical music maestros at Gold Reef City

Fans of classical Indian music can enjoy Ehsaas – The Ghazal Festival taking place at The Lyric at Gold Reef City on 24 May.

Inner Circle Entertainment and Gold Reef City will treat ghazal lovers to a feast of stellar performances by a team of renowned artists from India.

With a performance style similar to jazz, ghazal is poetic and emotive, with soul-penetrating vocals and delightful musical improvisation.

Ehsaas – The Ghazal Festival is headlined by the sitar maestro and vocalist Ustad Shujaat Khan, who has developed a unique style with an approach to rhythm that is largely intuitive, fresh and spontaneous – always astonishing his audiences. Known for his exceptional voice, Shujaat is one of the very few artists who plays the sitar and sings simultaneously. His silky voice has earned him as much acclaim as his wizardry on the sitar.

Shujaat is joined by Surinder Khan who is one of finest contemporary ghazal singer in the style of the great Ghulam Ali, is fast becoming the ghazal singer of choice at prestigious music festivals in India.

The artists will be accompanied by some of the finest performers from India on tabla, sarangi, flute, acoustic guitar, and dholak.
