After a highly successful Cape Town tour, Buskaid brings their annual ensemble performance to the Linder Auditorium this Saturday, 15 August 2015.
This year’s Buskaid Ensemble concert at the Linder Auditorium will feature Buskaid’s customary line-up of exciting talented young soloists, including Simiso Radebe, Kabelo Monnathebe and Cecelia Manyama. The 30-strong Ensemble will present a programme of varied content.
The programme is a diverse mix of Baroque, Classical and Romantic music and, as we progress to the lighter part of our programme, some very seductive film scores. Simiso Radebe will feature as violin soloist in Saint-Saens’ virtuosic Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso; whilst Kabelo Monnathebe’s sensuous renditions of the themes from Cinema Paradiso and The Age of Innocence may well have you reaching for the tissues!
The more ‘serious’ part of our programme includes music from Rameau’s operas Pigmalion and Zaϊs; Sibelius’s ravishing and little known Impromptu for Strings; and a revisit of Boccherini’s Night Music of the Streets of Madrid, which was such a huge hit in Cape Town that we have decided to include it in this concert.
Expect new, original Kwela and Gospel arrangements for an upbeat ending to an inspiring and uplifting night out!
